Content about the Great Sand Sea

The second largest desert in the world, laying on west of “Egypt” and east of “Libya”, forming 72,000 Km2 of sand dunes. It’s bigger than the size of “Ireland Republic”, as well as “Switzerland” and “Belgium” both combined.


These sand formations makes a perfect mecca for “Sand Boarding”, where the 4×4 vehicles drop you on the top of the sand dune, and you enjoy surfing your way down, while the sun shines are energizing your speed.

After the sun and action, you may have dip and swim in the refreshing water of “Bier Wahed”, it’s a spring-lake in the middle of the desert, naturally cleaned by the tiny fishes at the bottom of the lake.

Then, you can have an adrenaline rush, while a local driver takes you in a sand-dunning ride. Later, you can rest on the top of one of the sand dunes, enjoying the scene while the goes down in a remarkable sunset experience.

After the sunset, you can head to one of the camping sites, where you can have your yummy dinner cooked by burying in the sand, and rest while having your traditional “Louyissah” tea (AKA lemon grass).

But the night is still young, so you may have a nice worm bath in one of the amazing hot-tops, made by the natural water springs, where you shall feel its warmth penetrating your body to heal and relax.

You can end your day by star gazing, watching the shooting stars around the camp fire, drinking tea or juice, talking to your friends or listening to a stranger’s experience. Then you go to your hotel, or sleep over in the camp, till the sunrise on another beautiful day.
